Alburtis Borough Council met Jan. 18 where Herbert Schumaker II was approved as a full-time maintenance staff member contingent upon passing a physical.

Maintenance Supervisor Donnie Derr requested this full-time maintenance position as one staff member has been out for about three months and another is out for an unknown period.

Hiring for a part-time maintenance employee was also discussed.

Committee chairs and members were approved at the meeting as follows:

•Chad Atkins was appointed chairman of the highway committee. John Aleszczyk and Hector Moss will serve on the committee.

•Aleszczyk was appointed chairman of the sewer committee. Moss and Atkins will serve on the committee.

•Moss was appointed chairman of the water committee. Atkins and Aleszczyk will serve on the committee.

•Mehmet Birtek was appointed chairman of the budget/property/insurance committee. Ashlynn Rivera and Steve Hill will serve on the committee.

•Hill was appointed chairman of the public health/safety/sanitation committee. Birtek and Rivera will serve on the committee.

•Rivera was appointed chairman of the policy/personnel/recycling committee. Hill and Birtek will serve on the committee.
