FEBRUARY EARLY DISMISSAL & CLOSURES: All Basd Schools will have an early dismissal on Thurs. Feb 15. High Schools will dismiss at 11 a.m., Middle Schools at 11:30 a.m. and Elementary Schools at Noon. Schools will be closed on Feb. 16 & 19 for Presidents’ Day.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Gabriela Reyes is in 8th grade at Northeast MS. Gabriela is an exemplary leader amongst her peers. She is a bilingual honor roll student in the ESOL program. She is a majorette, a member of chorus, is on the volleyball team, dance and step teams, and is in Northeast Theater Company’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. Her teachers describe her as kind hearted and hardworking.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Michelle Korcienski is an Associate Nurse at Broughgal MS. Ms. Korcienski is respected by her nurse colleagues, teaching staff, students and families, and excels in all areas of school nursing. She provides compassionate and knowledgeable care to her students and staff. She is also mentor to the newer Associate Nurses in the district. She is a great role model for her colleagues, exemplifying all that an Associate Nurse should be.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Ashley Penn graduated from Freedom HS in 2009. She is currently an Assistant Principal at Avon Grove HS in West Grove, PA.

DENTAL CLINIC FOR YOUTH: Northampton County Community College and the Litwak Dental Cinic will offer free screenings, X-rays, cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments and education for children ages 3 to 17 on March 23. To make an appointment please call 610-861-5442.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS

FOOD DISTRIBUTION HAS MOVED: On the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 2 p.m. to 4p.m., there will be a food distribution at 1016 Wood St. The will no longer be a food distribution at Northeast Middle School.

BAVTS CARBS FOR KARB: Please support Mr. Karb and his wife who suffered a severe car accident two years ago and was eventually diagnosed with cancer. She also now has severe osteoporosis, and has been unable to work for the past two years. ANIMAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown is seeking volunteers to prepare animal food, walk dogs, cage/kennel cleaning, enrichment, vet transportation and events.
