Esther L. Mauser

Esther L. Mauser, 93, of Northampton, died peacefully Dec. 20, 2023, in Sacred Heart by the Creek.

Her family and friends were blessed to have her in their lives.

Born Jan. 21, 1930, in Ormrods she was the last surviving member of seven children of the late Andrew and Mary (Bogach) Lauser.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Egypt, Whitehall.

She was delivered by a midwife who gave her the name Esther, meaning Queen of the Nile.

She resided in Northampton with her daughter, Debra Gerencser, and Rudy Schlener, whom she loved like a son.

She was married Sept. 4, 1950, to Paul C. Mauser until his death on Oct. 14, 1979.

She then found love and companionship with Paul M. Pastier until his death on March 9, 2016.

During her early life, she was part-owner of the Meyersville Hotel.

Later, she enjoyed her years of employment at Western Electric, Allentown, followed by Cross Country Clothes, Egypt and Northampton, where she met many lifelong friends.

She always enjoyed a good cash bingo game, going to the casino, Pinochle, Coplay Seniors, cleaning, baking, and cooking.

Her specialty was Ukrainian dishes, specifically Kapusta and Haluski.

Before her death, she made sure to give her daughter some final tips to prepare the mushroom soup for Holy Supper.

Her survivors include her granddaughter, Taylor Stefanyak, and husband, Chad, of Whitehall; grandsons Ian Gerencser and wife, Dana, of Allentown, Nolan Gerencser and wife, Veronica, of Bethlehem; the eight true loves of her life, great-grandchildren Reed, Jack and Cade Stefanyak, Emerson and Asher Gerencser, and Rowan Esther, Lexington and Remi Gerencser; and very caring nieces and nephews who were always close.

She was predeceased by sisters Anna Haas, Mary Simock, Catherine Klapko, Helen Marcincin and Tessie Snyder; and brother Paul Lauser Sr.

She was so happy for the “Pennsy/Jersey” reunion in May, reuniting with family she hadn’t seen in a while.

She loved parties, both planning and hosting.

She was a friend to all and to have her as a friend was something very special.

She was always willing to help whenever and however she could.

May God bless her with a “how’s that” and may she be even happier in heaven.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Yenushosky and the Rev. Msgr. Andrew L. Szaroletta 10 a.m. Dec. 28 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Whitehall, where her viewing will begin at 9 a.m.
