Lehigh Valley Independent Bookstores celebrate Small Business Saturday and Indie’s First with specials Nov. 24 through Giving Tuesday Nov. 28.

Let’s Play Books Bookstore, 244 Main St., Emmaus and new sister store, The End: a bookstore, 3055 W. Tilghman St., Allentown are excited to join readers new and old in celebration of all that makes an indie bookstore vital and special.

The Indie Bookstore Ambassador for the 2023-2024 year is Amanda Gorman, who will champion the Indie’s First national campaign of activities and events in support of independent bookstores, held every year in conjunction with Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Nov. 24 is Friday with Friends. Stores are open noon to 5 p.m. In addition, A Storybook Party will host a special photo opportunity with Mickey & Minnie Santa 11 a.m. at The End: a bookstore. Reservations at www.astorybookparty.com. Both stores will feature a Giving Holiday Tree where you may purchase a book to donate and receive a blind date with a book as a thank you.

On Nov. 25 is Small Business Saturday – the most important day of the year to small businesses across the country. All-day specials and treats. The day is also celebrated as Indie’s First, showcasing why independent bookstores should be your first choice in book shopping.

•Let’s Play Books Bookstore 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Nov. 26 – Small Business Sunday – Let’s Play Books celebrates 10 years in business, having opened the doors of the original one room shop in 2013. The official 10-year anniversary party will be held Feb. 4, 2024.

On Nov. 27 – Cyber Monday – both stores will offer an online only discount. You can still shop local online. Code – LOCALCYBER

On Nov. 28 – Giving Tuesday – Readers who donate to Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley are eligible for a 20% coupon on anything in the shop. Show your receipt in the store anytime through Dec. 10.
