LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Rainy weather does not deter visitors to open house

A dreary, rainy day did not seem to deter visitors to the Lower Macungie Fire Department’s annual community open house at the department’s Brandywine Station, 6229 Sauerkraut Lane, Oct. 14.

With activities aimed at youngsters, families were seen with many excited children. There were souvenir giveaways from community vendors, face painting and crayon art tables, refreshments and close-up views of fire vehicles and gear from the department’s three fire stations.

Fire Chief David Nosal said he was gratified to see so many community residents visiting despite less than perfect weather.

Nosal, though, said his crew members were already looking forward to next year’s open house.

“2024 marks our 100th anniversary as a fire department ,” Nosal said. “We are already planning an ‘open house on steroids’ on Oct. 12,” he quipped.

A community resident standing close by heard Nosal’s comments and said, “We’ll be here for sure.”
