Coplay: Concerts continue in borough

The Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is planning its Friday night concert series.

The schedule includes the New Normal June 14, the Castaways June 21 and Triple Dog Dare June 28. The July lineup includes American Street Band July 5, Smith Compound Band July 12, Rocky and the Rebels July 19 and Bad Influence July 26.

Doors open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m.

Concerts are open to all members and guests. There is a cover charge.

The borough’s twilight summer concert series is held 6-9 p.m. at Coplay Community Plaza, Second and Chestnut streets.

The concert schedule will include the Jeni Hackett Duo June 19, Rock Strady July 3 and Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyers July 31.

Coplay Senior Citizens group is dissolving effective July 3. The group will meet June 19 and for its final meeting July 3 at the Coplay Social Hall, 165 Cherry St.

Doors open noon, with the meetings starting 1 p.m. Attend the final meetings to express and appreciate all the group has done for its members.

The Coplay Saengerbund will hold its dining on the terrace evenings June 26, July 10 and 24 and Aug. 21. Doors open 5 p.m.

The kitchen will be open 5-8:30 p.m., and Scott Erikson will be playing an acoustic set 6-9 p.m. There is no cover charge.

The Coplay Garden Club will meet 7 p.m. June 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church social hall, 18 S. Third St.

Redeemed Christian Church of God, 5 N. Third St., will hold the Praise Arena’s 20th anniversary and ribbon-cutting celebration and dedication.

Events will include an anniversary concert 7 p.m. June 28, an anniversary service and banquet noon June 29 and a thanksgiving 10:45 a.m. June 30. The theme of the celebration is “Expressions of Supernatural Grace.”

If your child or grandchild is a resident of Coplay and is graduating from high school in 2024 and is planning to attend college, university, trade school or the police academy, consider applying for a Coplay Scholarship Fund scholarship.

Recipients could receive scholarships up to $5,000 or $10,000.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Coplay pavilion rentals are available through Oct. 31.

The Coplay Social Hall, 165 Cherry St., is also available to rent.
