PHS volleyball still undefeated in EPC

The Parkland High School girls volleyball team remained undefeated by winning all three of its matches last week, all three were in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. The Trojans improved to 16-4 overall and 9-0 in the conference and are one of just two teams unbeaten in the conference, joining Pleasant Valley (10-0), who tops the North Division. Parkland is in the West Division.

The Trojans swept a match at home against Stroudsburg last Monday, September 18, by scores of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-9. Alli Reimer finished with 10 kills and three digs, while Ava Best contributed eight kills and five service aces. Kasia Burda recorded seven kills, four blocks and two digs. Maggie Smith added 30 assists, five digs and two kills.

Parkland had a harder time against Liberty last Wednesday as it went to four sets. The Trojans came out on top by scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-15 and 25-23. Reimer led the attack with 19 kills and Madi Siggins totaled 12 kills. Izzy Fekula recorded a team-best 31 digs. Ava Brunnabend notched 17 digs and Smith contributed 47 assists and 24 digs.

Parkland also swept Nazareth in straight sets then two nights later, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-16. Siggins had a team-high 12 kills on the attack, while Best added 10 kills and three blocks, Reimer tallied nine kills and two blocks and Cat Neagle finished with eight kills. Smith had 31 assists and three aces. Fekula led the defense with 17 digs.

Parkland has another three-match week in conference this week. The Trojans headed north for a match at East Stroudsburg North this past Monday and then hosted Emmaus on Tuesday night, before rounding out the week with a home match against Allen on Thursday.
