Letter to the editor: Change needed to fix inflation

To the Editor:

Inflation! It’s the death of us all. Our government, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics website, calculates 7% from January 2017 to December 2020 and 17% from January 2021 to August 2023. In my household, we are averaging over 30% since January 2021. And for some specific items, it’s sometimes close to 100%.

Check canned foods, snack foods, dairy, seafood, bottled water, paper products, gasoline, natural gas, electric, water/sewer, medical services, all insurances, housing, building materials (have you been to Home Depot lately?), and don’t forget your property taxes. I don’t know how other people are surviving, but I do know my household’s cost of living before January 2021 was a lot less than it is today.

There are some obvious reasons: politics, government spending, over regulation and greed.

Change is urgently needed or our middle class, who basically built and support our country, will be eliminated. What happens then?
