PHS girls tennis keeps rolling over opponents

The Parkland girls tennis team improved to 14-0 on the season with a 5-0 win over Nazareth Monday.

The Trojans’ Alexandria Warsing, Sophie Elijovich and Sophia Petrocelli swept the singles matches.

Aarohi Vaze and Kiera Miles won their No. 2 doubles match, while Riley Zangari and Belle Mattson won the No. 4 doubles matches. Two other pairings, Kate Gilchrist and Moriah Thomas, along with Ali Silman and Kiana Mile, were winning doubles matches but did not finish.

The Trojans defeated Pocono Mountain West last Friday, 4-0 with Elijovich and Petrocelli winning singles matches and the doubles teams of Vaze/Zangari and Silman/Kiana Miles winning doubles matches. Gilchrist was leading the No. 1 singles match but did not finish.

Parkland played its most competitive match of the season so far when it met Moravian Academy in a nonleague contest last Thursday, Sept. 14. The Trojans handed the Lions their only loss of the season, 3-2.

Warsing and Petrocelli won singles matches against Moravian, while Silman and Kiana Miles picked up a win at No. 2 doubles.

The Trojans earned a 6-1 win over Stroudsburg last Tuesday.

Warsing and Elijovich won singles matches against the Mountaineers and Parkland swept the four doubles matches with Gilchrist and Thomas winning first doubles; Vaze and Kiera Miles taking the second doubles match; Silman and Kiana Miles winning the third doubles contest; and Zanhgari and Mattson coming out on top at fourth doubles.
