Parkland wins first five matches by 3-0 scores

The Parkland High School girls volleyball team had a streak of winning matches in straight sets last season during the regular season. So far through the first two weeks of the 2023 campaign, the Trojans have continued that trend.

Parkland defeated both Allen and Northampton in straight sets during the first week of the season, both Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matches. Then, last week, the Trojans were victorious over Bethlehem Catholic, Whitehall and Pocono Mountain East, all by 3-0 scores.

Parkland beat the Canaries 25-8, 25-6, 25-10. Alli Reimer and Ava Best finished with six kills, Genda Avdijaj had four aces and Maggie Smith recorded 23 assists in the match.

The Trojans defeated the Kids 25-11, 25-15, 25-21. Reimer paced the attack with 15 kills. Best contributed seven kills and four aces. Madi Siggins tallied six kills and Smith added 39 assists and three aces.

Against the Golden Hawks, Parkland won by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-17. Reimer and Best both had double-digit kills with the former having 16 kills and eight digs and the latter notching 11 kills. Avdijaj had five kills and six digs and Kasia Burda totaled five kills and two blocks. Smith dished out 40 assists and had eight digs.

Parkland beat the Zephyrs 25-14, 25-10, 25-9. Best finished with eight kills, while Reimer, Siggins and Avidijaj all contributed seven kills, the latter adding seven digs to her total. Smith recorded 30 assists, six aces and five digs.

Parkland hosts Central Catholic in conference action on Thursday night before competing in their annual home tournament, the Parkland Invitational inside the school gym on Saturday.
