Eastern Salisbury firefighters respond to Aug. 13 fire

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO A fire erupts around 6:30 a.m. Aug. 13 in a storage building to the rear of Vallos Bakery in the 1800 block of Broadway, Salisbury Township. Eastern Salisbury Fire Department Fire Chief Ian Dodson arrived on scene shortly after dispatch. Engine 20 arrived shortly after. Salisbury Township Police Officer Kyle Watson assisted with deploying the initial 1 3/4 attack line. The fire was quickly spreading to the bakery. While the engine crew worked to get a water supply established, Watson who is also a volunteer firefighter, used the initial attack line to protect the bakery from any additional fire damage. The crew from Engine 20 took over the fire suppression operation. An additional line was placed in service to assist with extinguishing the bulk of the fire. The fire was placed under control in approximately 13 minutes after dispatch. No injuries were reported. The fire is being investigated by the office of the Salisbury Township Fire Marshall.
