Kevin Miller’s Classic Kings fuel ‘Crocodile Rock Reunion’ at Wind Creek’s Molten

Kevin Miller’s Classic Kings perform at 8 p.m. June 17 at Molten Lounge, Wind Creek, Bethlehem, in what is billed as a “Crocodile Rock Reunion.”

The Crocodile Rock Cafe, July 1999 - 2015 along Hamilton Street, between Fifth and Sixth streets, Allentown, was a popular concert hall for rock music bands.

A legendary concert by Julian Lennon opened Croc Rock July 30, 1999. Groups performing there included Bret Michaels, Buckcherry, Fuel, Jonas Brothers, Saving Abel and Snoop Dogg.

Expected to attend the reunion at Molten is Crocodile Rock founder-owner Joe Clark. Emcee-DJ Tom Taylor, Croc Rock’s resident DJ, opens the concert at 8 p.m. The Classic Kings are to perform at 9:30 p.m.

Miller is drummer for Fuel since 1988. Fuel, based in Harrisburg, has alternative rock hits, including “Shimmer” from its album, “Sunburn” (1988); “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” and “Bad Day” from “Something Like Human” (2000), and “Falls on Me” from “Natural Selection” (2003).

“I decided to form Classic Kings for the fun of it. I enjoy playing with Fuel. But I also love playing other songs,” says Miller in a phone interview from Fargo, N.D., prior to a Fuel concert there.

“This band [Classic Kings] plays songs from my childhood memories, songs I grew up listening to, such as [by the groups] Eagles, ELO and Kansas.

“We are a seven-piece band containing great musicians: Ricky Smith, lead vocals and guitar; Mark Klotz, lead vocals and guitar; Jason Kocis, lead vocals and guitar; Rick Repsher, keyboards and lead vocals; Erik Leonhardt. bass guitar and vocals, and Tink Thompson, violin and lead vocals.

“One of the great things about the songs we play is it seems to touch a wide age range. Love it when someone who wasn’t even born when the songs were popular tell me they love the song we played. And their response is they only know it because their parents still play classic rock.

“I’m fine knowing I’m the same age as their parents. Ha. Looking forward to going down memory lane and playing in my hometown area.”
