ACCHS prom to be held May 13

As the school year begins to wind down, many events and ceremonies lie ahead.

The Allentown Central Catholic High School Junior/Senior Prom will be held 5-10 p.m. May 13 at DeSales University. Also, all juniors and seniors are off from school May 12 to prepare for prom.

The Viking baseball team will host its Senior Night 6 p.m. May 3 at Limeport Stadium and the Vikette softball team will honor their seniors 7 p.m. May 3 at Patriots Park, 1027 St. John St., Allentown. The dates for the boys lacrosse senior night and the track and field picnic will be provided soon. Twenty of these incredible seniors will advance to play their sport in college and will be recognized at the ACCHS Collegiate Athlete Signing Day 8:30 a.m. May 16 in Rockne Hall. Attendees may arrive beginning 8 a.m.

The Academic and Activities Awards will be held 8:30-9:30 a.m. May 15 and seniors will be given their Day-Maurin Service Society Awards and others after the Ascension Thursday Mass May 18.

Attention all dancers: The ACCHS Dance Team is hosting its spring dance clinic 9:30-11:30 a.m. May 6 in Masson Auditorium. Dancers will have the opportunity to meet the team and directors, participate in a typical dance team practice and learn a basketball performance style routine. The clinic is available to all boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. There is a cost per dancer, payable by cash or check. If interested, sign up by emailing danceteam.acchs@gmail.com. The clinic is free for all incoming freshmen and current high schoolers who want to prepare for the upcoming tryouts. Tryouts will take place 9:30-11:30 a.m. May 20 and 1-3:30 p.m. May 21. Come share your dancing talent with the Viking Nation.

The ACCHS Class of 2027 Freshmen Orientation will be 6-8 p.m. May 11 in Rockne Hall. All incoming ninth grade students and their families and guardians are encouraged to attend. Registration and freshmen T-shirt pickup will begin 6 p.m., with the welcome presentation 6:30 p.m. and then the Academics, Activities and Athletics Fair 7 p.m., where students and parents may ask questions or sign up for an activity. The Class of 2027 has a limited number of open spaces left, so register today by contacting Admissions Director Cara Meskill at 610-437-4601, ext. 148 or by visiting www.acchs.info/admissions.

The girls retreat at Villa Pauline will be 7:15 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. May 16. This is the final retreat of the school year for the Vikettes. All girls are welcome to spend the day at the Villa Pauline Retreat Center. The retreat will include Mass, a tour of the Sisters of Christian Charity Convent and Motherhouse, meeting the Sisters, a scavenger hunt, crafts and chances to discuss the incredible roles of women in the church. Lunch will be provided and bus transportation will leave from the Pits. The link to sign up may be found in your school email or in the online weekly newsletter.

The ACCHS Class of 1963’s 60th Reunion will be held 1-5 p.m. Aug. 20 at Delizioso Italian Grill Outdoor Patio, 1985 Brookside Road, Macungie. Invitations will be sent soon, but contact Donna Sartori at 610-965-2510 with any questions.

ACCHS is participating in “Make a Joyful Noise,” an online lip dubbing competition to collect donations for Diocese of Allentown Catholic schools. Many diocesan schools are rejoicing in the gift of Catholic education and creating their own music videos. Voting for the best video opened May 1, so check the school’s social media accounts for the link. Vote by May 31 and all voting proceeds will be directed to ACCHS. Thank you for supporting Catholic education.
