Hokendauqua: Register for law enforcement event

Registration for Whitehall Police Department’s second annual youth law enforcement academy program opens March 19.

This free program will run 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 19-23 at the police department. Registration is limited to 32 participants.

The township has aqua aerobics classes scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays March 21-May 16. There will be no class April 6.

Classes will take place in the Whitehall High School natatorium, 3800 Mechanicsville Road.

Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission has scheduled its spring historical walk for 9 a.m. March 25, starting at the barn at 4041 Chestnut St.

The walk is approximately 7 miles. Hike leaders are Bob Abbott and Ray Bieak. This free event requires no registration.

The township will hold indoor public swim sessions, for Whitehall and Coplay residents, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through March 29 in the WHS natatorium.

No registration is required, but you must show your photo ID.

Sessions will be canceled if Whitehall-Coplay School District is closed.

Children under the age of 10 must be supervised. Any child in need of a flotation device must be accompanied while in the pool.

Whitehall’s community egg hunt, which was set for April 1, has been canceled.

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae service 7-8 p.m. April 7 at the church, 3005 S. Front St.

The service will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.

Hokey Athletic Association has scheduled a designer purse bingo for April 21 at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St.

Doors open 6 p.m., and bingo starts 7 p.m.

Whitehall will hold an electronics recycling and document shredding day behind Whitehall-Coplay Middle School 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or until trucks are full, May 20. The event is for township residents only.
