State police blotter in Salisbury

Accident

A trucker, of Lancaster and his passenger escaped injury when their truck jackknifed on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township, closing the highway for approximately two hours, Feb. 16, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The vehicle, described by authorities as a Volvo VNL, was westbound in the right lane of Interstate 78 near mile marker 58.5 around 3:11 p.m. when the driver lost control. The truck traveled across the three-lane roadway, jackknifing the truck and trailer, striking the concrete center median and finally coming to a stop in the left lane facing oncoming traffic. The crash also caused fuel to leak from the truck’s fuel tank. The driver was cited for allegedly speeding, operating a vehicle without required financial responsibility and violation of requirement for a commercial driver’s license. Allentown Fire Department Engine 11 and Yocum Towing and Recovery also responded.
