North Catasauqua: Meet your new North Catasauqua community columnist

Greetings, small Town USA!

My name is Joe Keglovits, and I would like to introduce myself as the new North Catasauqua columnist for the Catasauqua Press.

I have been a North Catasauqua resident all of my life and have been active in North Catasauqua community organizations, as well as serving on North Catasauqua Borough Council in the past.

I have great pride and a strong love for small Town USA so writing the North Catasauqua column will be a great pleasure for me.

In the column, I would like to include borough news, fire and police department news, community organizations news, North Catasauqua park news, borough history and basically anything and everything North Catasauqua.

If you would like something to be included in the North Catasauqua column, submit it to me at least two weeks in advance - especially if a certain date is involved with your submission.

I look forward to writing this column and keeping the North Catasauqua residents informed.

I can be reached by email at NCataCentennial@aol.com.

Feel free to reach out to me with your submissions or with any questions.

It’s back! After a three-year hiatus, the St. John Fisher Catholic Church Lenten fish dinner is back again this year.

The dinner will be 4-6:30 p.m. March 10 at the church, 1239 Third St.

A dinner includes breaded haddock, choice of parsley potatoes or halushki, sides, roll and butter, dessert and a beverage.

There is a cost.

Takeout dinners will be available if you wish to take your dinners home.

To purchase tickets or for more information, call Annette Englert at 610-533-2109.

Don’t forget! Daylight saving time is set to begin 2 a.m. March 12.

Clocks will need to be turned ahead one hour so we can “spring ahead.”

This is also a good time to test your smoke alarms and to change the batteries.

The North Catasauqua and Catasauqua fire departments had an independent evaluation by the state Department of Economic Community Development to conduct a study involving both fire department operations and abilities. The completed final report was released and was reviewed with both boroughs.

Borough residents are encouraged to review the report at northcatasauqua.org.

Questions or concerns can be addressed by reaching out to northcatasauquaema@yahoo.com or 610-264-1504.
