Tigers, Bombers beat Salisbury

Facing two difficult teams this past week, the Salisbury boys basketball team suffered losses to both Northwestern Lehigh and Palmerton as the season moves toward an end.

For the Falcons, it has been a tough season that currently has them on a four-game losing skid.

Salisbury fell to Northwestern Lehigh 44-26 as the Tigers were able to hold the Falcons to a season-low in points. Juniors Jake Zellin and Tom Lovelidge led the team with nine points each as four other players contributed the final eight points of the Salisbury total.

Two nights later, Palmerton came to Salisbury for the final home game of the season and again kept the Falcons offense in check in a 63-29 game. This time around, Zellin shared the team lead in scoring with senior Luke Graver as both finished with seven points.

After the offense had found some strength and averaged just under 45 points per game over a four-game stretch, the Falcons have struggled to score in their last two outings.

Zellin (8.1 points per game) and Lovelidge (7.65) have been consistent scorers for the Falcons, and both will be back next season for their senior year as the team looks to build with young players coming behind their two leading scorers.
