Falcons go 5-0 in dual tournament

The Falcons hosted their annual Salisbury Duals Wrestling Tournament this past weekend and came away with a perfect 5-0 record, one of just two teams to go undefeated in the event.

Salisbury cruised through its first four duals with wins over Archbishop Wood (57-6), Dieruff (54-18), Church Farm School (63-12), and Twin Valley (42-12).

John Samy (133 pounds), Jacob Watson (172), Jakub Gloc (189), Sam Krauss (215) and Mason Holva (145) all grabbed wins in their first four matches, with Gloc winning each match by a fall. Edwin Serrano Jr (127) and Toby Linn (160) both finished with three wins, with Linn pinning all three opponents.

The closest match of the day for Salisbury came in the finale against Upper Merion when the Falcons kept their day perfect with a 41-33 victory.

Samy opened with a pin over Ava Akacha at 133 pounds, but Merion took the next three bouts to take a 15-6 lead before the Falcons came flying back with five straight pins by Watson, Linn, Gloc, Krauss and Mitchell Miller. The teams each had a forfeit and Upper Merion picked up a win at 114 pounds and trailed 36-33 going into the final match of the day.

In the finale, Serrano dominated and won by technical fall over Dylan Kontra in a 15-0 final to give the Falcons the 41-33 win.

On the day, Unionville was the only other team to finish with a perfect 5-0 record among the nine teams competing. Gloc, Krauss, Samy, and Watson all went a perfect 5-0 for Salisbury.
