Human Resource Officer Giordana to retire

The Board of School Directors approved the retirement of Russell Giordano, chief human resources officer for the Bethlehem Area School District, at their meeting Jan. 23.

Giordano has served in his role of Chief Human Resources Officer with distinction since 2011. In addition to his current title, he also serves the district as the compliance officer, chief negotiator, and assistant board secretary.

In a district with 2,000+ employees and multiple employee labor groups, Giordano invested himself in supporting each staff member and worked hard to balance individual and organizational needs. Giordano’s career as a human resources professional, combined with his experience as a long time school board member in Salisbury and his early years as a teacher proved to be the perfect recipe for meeting the ever more complex human resource needs of the district.

Giordano plans to work until the end of the school year and the district will begin a search for his successor immediately with a goal of having someone in place this spring who can then work alongside Giordano for a couple of months to aid with the transition.
