Falcons compete in two rifle matches

The Salisbury rifle team competed against Liberty on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The Hurricanes won the match 496-471.

Liberty’s Nick Cipolone and Sathua Haribaster both had 100s.

For Salisbury, Billy Barndt led the way with a 97-5x, while Elizabeth Sterner has a 95-2x and Brandon Young shot a 95. Rounding out the Falcons’ top five were Madlyn Williams and Nathan Staack, who both shot 92 with Staack hitting three bullseyes and Williams two. Andrew Moyer and Sarah Vaughn both shot 91 at the meet. PJ Juhasz shot 86 for Salisbury. Cassie Daw had 82. Laura Haldeman shot a score of 77.

Salisbury took on defending league champ Emmaus, which boasts one of the top junior shooters in the nation in Griffin Lake, who competes internationally.

The Hornets pulled out a 500-475 win with Lake, Zach Brenner, Kaden Issa, Molly Yard, and Shannon Anders all notching 100s.

For the Falcons, Barndt led the way with a 99-7x, followed by teammates Young (96-5x), Sterner (94-4x), Williams (93-4x) and Sydney Lombo (93-3x) rounding out the top five. Also competing for Salisbury was Staack (91-2x), Juhasz (87-1x), Will Sterner (86-1x), Moyer (80-2x), and Haldeman (79-2x).
