Salisbury-ACC form wrestling co-op

For the first time in program history, the Salisbury High School wrestling team will join forces in a co-op with Allentown Central Catholic for the 2022-23 season. The numbers will greatly increase, which will help with depth and talent that head coach Eric Snyder can put out in his lineup in each weight class.

The Falcons roster features four seniors, including two-time regional qualifier John Samy, Toby Linn, Shawn Donaldson and Chloe Sandeen. They will also have senior Mitch Miller from the Vikings. A junior class of Gavin Cerco, Clark Gulycz, Heriberto Hernandez, Mason Holva and Ethan Sandford also will bring depth and experience.

Newcomers to the team include Miller, junior Jakub Gloc and sophomore Edwin Serrano from Central, along with freshmen Colby Townley, Sam Krauss, Jordan Tocci-Wachter and Jake Watson. Miller placed fourth at districts last year at 285 and Gloc was fifth in districts at 215.

“Our numbers are greatly improved with 20 or more wrestlers to be on the team depending on what we decide to do as a coaching staff with all the ninth graders on the roster,” said Snyder. “Obviously, the co-op with Central Catholic has helped with these numbers at both levels and it has been a welcoming sight to have 30 or so kids in the room with even more when we get the Central football kids in the room. We will be a tough out for most of the Colonial League schools with the additions of Mitch and Jakub and the return of two-time District 11 runner-up John Samy and Toby. We have a good group of freshmen moving up who will be an asset to the program in Colby Townley, Sam Krauss, Jordan Tocci and Jake Watson. Qualifying for District Duals for the first time in school history is a possibility if our freshmen grow quickly into their roles.”

Salisbury begins its regular season next Friday, Dec. 9, at Northwestern. The home opener is set for the following Tuesday against Executive Education Charter.
