Schubert-Graber Cabin discussion continues

Upper Milford Township Manager Bud Carter provided an update at the Nov. 17 Upper Milford Township Board of Supervisors meeting on the Schubert-Graber Cabin potential project.

Carter explained his inquiries clarified the exact expectations from the township should it wish to support the Hivel Und Dahl’s project. Any government funding application would need to be done by the township such as the paperwork, the bid, etc.

“The onus would be on the township to make sure all is followed,” Carter explained.

Carter went on to say he was unsure if the Hivel Und Dahl members have a Plan B, should things not go the way they hoped.

Supervisor John Zgura said he went to see where the cabin is, shortly after the renovation issues of the cabin were first raised last month. He wondered if it might be more advantageous for all concerned if it was moved to somewhere more visible.

Everyone present said it might be productive if a meeting could take place to see what possibilities could be entertained to move forward, if that’s what everyone desires.

Once again, the idea of meeting with both fire stations serving Upper Milford Township was raised when Upper Milford District Western Fire Company representatives raised the need to purchase updated equipment. A date should be confirmed soon.

Director of the Emmaus Public Library Maryellen Kanarr updated the supervisors with the latest events available to residents.

On Dec. 3, the library will host an event geared toward children in the borough. They will be able to create their own ornaments for the season.

There will also be a class Dec. 5 for residents interested in learning email basics. This is part of a series which saw a basic computer class Nov. 7 and a cyberspace class Nov. 21.

The Upper Milford Township tentative 2023 budget is on the official township website uppermiford.net for the public to view.

The next scheduled meeting is Dec. 1.
