Hokendauqua: Fundraiser to be held Nov. 28 for Zephyr boys basketball

There is a dine and donate event scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Nov. 28 at Keystone Pub, 1410 Grape St., Whitehall, to support Zephyr boys basketball. A basket auction and 50/50 drawing are part of the night.

Whitehall Township will hold its annual tree-lighting celebration 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the municipal building, 3219 MacArthur Road.

There will be light refreshments offered and a special visitor from the North Pole. Entertainment includes Pennsylvania Performing Arts Center and Whitehall Chorale.

Whitehall is hosting a bus trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square Dec. 10. The bus will leave the municipal building 2 p.m. and will depart the attraction site 10 p.m.

The cost of a ticket - $80 - includes transportation and admission.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys, 2819 MacArthur Road, will host a pictures with Santa event 1-4 p.m. Dec. 11. Just bring your own camera to have these memories captured.

There will also be hot chocolate and crafts at this free event.

Whitehall Fire Department Station 38 and Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association will be conducting their annual Operation Santa Dec. 11. Gift drop-offs will not be held this year. Instead, Santa and his helpers will be handing out treats and accepting donations.

The Christmas tree farm will also not be open this season due to a shortage of trees, according to the station’s Facebook page. The station hopes to be able to continue this tradition in 2023 and wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

A Blue Christmas/Longest Night service is set for 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at St. John’s UCC. This service is for those who find the holidays to be difficult to navigate, whether from the loss of loved ones, depression or loneliness.

Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative is hosting a free community meal 4-6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St. The meal is guaranteed for the first 100 guests.
