Bangor edges Salisbury in playoff game

The Salisbury field hockey team showed how far its come this season by battling Bangor to a 4-3 loss in a District 11 Class 2A quarterfinal game last Tuesday.

The Slaters beat Salisbury 6-0 just over a month ago on Sept. 22. But this time the Falcons kept the game close and were just a couple goals away from advancing to the semifinal round.

The Falcons (9-9-1) earned the No. 4 seed for districts by winning their season finale against Freedom by one goal. After nearly three weeks of in between games, they hosted the No. 5 seed Slaters, who qualified for districts with a 7-6-1 Colonial League record, while the Falcons went 5-8-1 in league play.

Bangor advanced to face top seed Southern Lehigh in the district semifinals and fell 4-0 to the Spartans, who will face Pocono Mountain East in the title game Thursday.
