‘Nessie’ tales to be told at Parkland Library

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will share the legends and lore of sea creatures across the globe at its Nessie and Other Lake and Sea Curiosities for adults 11 a.m. July 16 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

Learn about the Loch Ness Monster, the Kraken, the Megalodon and more.

The library will have a virtual Let’s Talk Sharks with Texas State Aquarium for kids in grades 2-5 from 2-3 p.m. July 19.

Explore how a shark’s skeleton, jaws, teeth, skin and camouflage make them top predators.

Participants will view live shark habitats and test their shark identification knowledge.

Baby story time for kids ages birth to 15 months, with an adult caregiver, will take place 10:30-11 a.m. on July 18 and 25.

The library staff will share simple books, lap bounces, rhymes, and songs all designed to help babies build important social, motor, and early literacy skills.

Teen’s Dungeon and Dragon Night for kids in grades 7-12 will take place in-person 6-8 p.m. July 18 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

Bring a favorite book and practice reading to the patient and gentle Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs 6:30-7:30 p.m. on July 18 and 25 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

Family Story Time Summer Session for families with children ages 1-5 will be from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. July 19 and 26 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms at the library.

There will be songs, rhymes and read-aloud stories.

Join yoga instructor Deanna Nagle for her gentle yoga for adults from 4-5 p.m. July 19 and 26 at the library.

She will guide participants through a range of motions to improve energy and focus, decrease pain in the body, and calm the central nervous system.

Family Story Time Summer Session 2 for kids ages 1-5 will take place 10-10:30 a.m. on July 20 and 27 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

There will be read-aloud stories, songs, and rhymes.

Adults, get tips and tricks from career professionals to help in your job search at the library’s career clinic from 1-2 p.m. July 20 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library’s Countdown to Kindergarten program will take place 1:30-2:30 p.m. July 20 and 27 in the Karen Tamerler Children’s Meeting Room at the library.

This story time series will combine early learning skills and hands-on activities with favorite books to support future school success.

This program is for kids ages 4 and older.

The teen drawing club for students in grades 5-10 will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. July 20 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms. Drawing materials and snacks will be provided.
