LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

2022 swim season

The June 4 opening day of the Northampton Municipal Pool, 1599 Laubach Ave., was a success, with gorgeous weather to kick it off.

The pool area looked great because of the work by the Northampton Borough Public Works Department and borough Manager LeRoy Brobst.

The temperature was nice and warm with abundant sunshine and low humidity. Patrons appeared to enjoy the weather as they sunbathed, swam and ate some good food from the concession stand.

Pool admission ticket takers Danica Snyder and Isabella Grandia are 2022 Northampton Area High School graduates. Snyder wants to find work as a roofer at a local construction company. Grandia plans to attend Northampton Community College to study mortuary science.

Lifeguard Andrea Davidson, of Northampton, watched the patrons in the pool from her perch, observing them for their safety. She noted she is grateful for the position of lifeguard and enjoys being at the pool.

Olivia Mrazik, a Whitehall High School student and an employee at the pool, said she plans to attend college after high school and study some form of medicine.

Pool patrons Patrick Blocker and Keyanna Green, from Northampton, said they enjoyed their day together at the pool.

Jody Selverian, of Northampton, a longtime pool patron, has a daughter working as a lifeguard. Selverian has been visiting the pool for years.

The show was stolen by 6-week-old Parker Eberly, with his parents, Chris Eberly and Amy Shrout. They spent important time together as Parker napped on a blanket in the shade.

Little Randy, of Northampton, was in the pool enjoying his time in the shallow section.

The concession stand was buzzing as Alyx Cole, Gavin Pychinka and Koehler Strohl were busy serving patrons. Gabriel, a young lad from Northampton, purchased mozzarella sticks.

If the weather cooperates throughout the 2022 season as it did that first day, the municipal pool may be the hot spot to hang out this summer.
