District News: Return your library books by June 3

Reminder for underclassmen: Return all library books by June 3. Check your backpacks, lockers and home for any forgotten materials.

See Mrs. Lewis or Mrs. Younes in the library if you’re not sure if you owe any books. The library also has begun emailing those students who owe any materials.

The Whitehall High School Class of 1972 is planning its 50th reunion June 4-6.

Festivities will begin 2 p.m. June 4 with a guided tour of the school and campus. After, there will be a happy hour 5-6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner and socializing, at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St.

There will also be a brunch 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 5 at Green Pond Country Club, 3604 Farmersville Road, Bethlehem.

Members are encouraged to attend the WHS commencement June 6 at PPL Center, 701 Hamilton St., Allentown.

There will be early dismissals June 9-13.

WHS will dismiss students 11:30 a.m.; Whitehall-Coplay Middle School dismisses 11 a.m.; and Gockley, Steckel and Zephyr elementary schools let out noon. The last day of school will be June 13. No lunches will be served.

WHS and WCMS students who are interested in emergency careers have an opportunity through Lehigh Valley Hospital’s Medicine Institute. This year’s Teen EMS Camp, geared toward career professionalism, health and wellness and skills for public safety careers, is for ages 13 to 18 years old. Various public safety professionals (health care, EMS, fire, police, etc.) will come and discuss their career and interact with the teenagers. They will have the opportunity to tour Cedar Crest hospital and MedEvac helicopter and will be certified in CPR and first aid. Camp will be hosted 8 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Aug. 17-19 in Allentown.
