Mary P. Metzker

Mary P. Metzker, 92, of Macungie, died peacefully on May 22, 2022, in her home.

She was the wife of the late Deacon Daniel F. Metzker.

Born April 3, 1930, in Birdsboro, Berks County, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Elizabeth J. (Lynch) Smith.

She was an executive secretary for the former Stanley Home Products.

Active in the life of her church, she was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, where she was the organist for 48 years, taught C.C.D., and a member of the Women’s Guild.

She enjoyed working with stained glass and oil painting.

Her survivors include children David W. Metzker of Raleigh, N.C., Dr. Mary C. Rutkowski of Center Valley, Eric L. Metzker and his wife, Carol, of West Chester, Mark E. Metzker of Kingston; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by children Daniel, Suzanne and Ann Marie; and siblings Eleanor, Kathleen, George, James, William and Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. May 27 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield. Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:50 a.m. Friday in the church.

Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Birdsboro following the Mass.

The family requests all attendees to kindly wear a mask.
