Norman J. Blose

Norman J. Blose, 89, of Orefield, died May 10, 2022, in Complete Care at Lehigh, Macungie.

He and his wife Katherine E. (Wenner) Blose were married 66 years.

Born Sept. 25, 1932, in Slatedale, he was the son of the late Ernest P. and Helen M. (Schleicher) Blose.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the rank of corporal.

He was a truck driver at Lehigh Valley Dairy, Allentown, for 34 years before retiring.

Active in the life of his church and community, he was a member of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington, where he served as president of the consistory for several terms, taught Sunday School, served as youth advisor, HARP leader, and served on the cemetery and property committees.

He also was an associate member of Promisedland Protestant Community Church where he served as president of the board of trustees and member of the property committee.

A 25-year fire police volunteer for the Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, Germansville, he held the title of captain for 10 of those years.

He was a former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 88, Heidelberg Union Church.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Mary Ellen Krause (David), Daniel C. Blose (Suzanne), Mark N. Blose (Annamaria), Joanna K. Blose; sister, Eleanor M.B. Williams (William); stepsister Donna; stepbrother Bruce; grandchildren Samuel, Brian and Steven Krause, Nathan Meghan, Katie, Matthew and Marissa Blose; great-grandchildren Nathan, Molly, Guage, Bryar, Grace, Charlotte, Cora, Landon, Kennedy, Leo; and beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Sandra E. Hahn and Shirley Fedak.
