Bids approved for various projects

The Parkland School Board, at the April 19 meeting, approved a bid of $393,610 submitted by Livengood Excavators for parking lot improvements at the Cetronia Elementary School.

Board member Jarrett Coleman voted no.

The board also approved a bid of $139,750 submitted by Light’s Tower Construction for a new district radio antenna tower installation at the Schnecksville Elementary School needed for the bus drivers’ communication system.

Coleman suggested the district rent out cellphone space on the tower to bring in revenue.

He voted no on the bid.

Moving on to another buildings and grounds item, the board approved the purchase of a 44-horsepower commercial lawn mower with a 12-foot cutting width from Whitehall Turf at a cost of $59,284.

Looking toward student needs for the 2022-2023 term, the board approved a total of $57,858 from several companies for art supplies for the new school year.

To keep the district’s payroll department efficient for reporting time and attendance, the board approved replacement by TimeClock Plus of remote data terminals and software at a cost of $28,203.

The board approved renewal of a subscription to Unified Insights Enrollment Analytics from PowerSchool Group at a cost of $12,834 for a one-year period.

The district uses Power School to enter student information to a database through a software application.

Coleman voted no.

To recognize the work of district employees, the board approved $3,936 for breakfasts prepared by the district food services department for staff May 3 and 4 during staff recognition week.

Coleman voted no.
