A Senior Art Practicum Exhibition that features the work of nine local artists from the Lehigh Valley and the Cedar Crest College Art Department Collection is open until March 4 in the Lachaise Gallery at the college.

The art show was designed and installed by the senior class with input from Brian Wiggins, director of the Center for Visual Research.

There will be a reception 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Lachaise Gallery.

Everyone is invited to attend.

The nine members of the senior class participating in the design of the show are: Autumn Bachert, Ashley Byrd, Gianna Castellitto, Eileen Gallagher, Rachel Myers, Ashleigh Nagy, Isabel Pichardo, Lois Ritchie and Christina Ventrillo.

They met and decided how the art work would be displayed as part of the curriculum.

According to Wiggins, this course is only open to students seeking an art degree and culminates with an exhibition of their own work that opens May 3.

The artwork on display in the Lachaise Gallery in the Miller Family Building include: Devyn Briggs, Egidio Galgano, Rachael Gorchov, Elizabeth Johnson, Emily Strong and Paul M. Nicholson.

Each have two of their pieces in the show.

Also displaying art from the Cedar Crest Collection are Pickney Herbert, John Lee and Sara Woster.

“Having students see artwork, handle, arrange and install artwork enhances their experience as artists, and gives some insight into how art shows are developed,” Wiggins said.

“The goal is that it will add a level of objectivity to their own work to see how it is influenced and can influence its surroundings.”
