Earned income tax rate approved in Lower Macungie

The earned income tax rate was proposed and approved during the Dec. 2 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting Dec. 2. Ordinance 2021-09 was approved by all commissioners present. The rate will be .15 percent.

A donation was presented by Andy Hines from Lutron to the Lower Macungie Township emergency services. The commissioners said this is an example of “corporate stewardship.”

Resolution 2021-60 is for the 2022 Homestead Exemption rate. The new rate is $118,925.

There was an executive session 6:45 p.m. Nov. 22 regarding land acquisition.

There was consideration for a bid award to Pro Com Roofing Corporation, of Warrington, for the Lower Macungie Township Community Center skylight and roof repair project. This was approved. The amount of the bid is $79,000.

A bid award was approved for the Gehman Road Bridge replacement project. There were six bids with the lowest coming from DOLI Corporation, of Chalfont. The bid received is for $406,221 and was approved by the commissioners.

The sewer planning module was approved for Advanced Health Care, 1345 Minesite Road.

The municipal agreement with KeyCodes for code inspection services was approved.

The township is considering a purchase of a 2023 Mack Granite dump truck cab and chassis from M&K Truck Centers. Also under consideration is the upfitting of the truck with a dump body and plow from EM Kutz. The truck purchase is $141,000 and the upfitting is $93,000. This was approved by the commissioners.

Commissioners thanked all who contributed to the Troop Support program. There were 87 parcels being shipped to five soldiers. Prologis has assisted with the shipping of these packages.
