Guy L. Schmick, 88, from Slatington, died on Sept. 23, 2021, in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall.

He and his wife, Ruth J. (Schaffer) Schmick, were married 61 years.

Born Nov. 27, 1932, in Orefield, he was the son of the late Wilmer C. and Sarah E. (Semmel) Schmick.

He was a mill worker at Dries Lumber Co., Macungie, for 10 years before retiring in 1998.

Before that, he was a butcher at Weis Markets, Schnecksville, and the former Parkland Meats, South Whitehall Township.

He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville.

He formerly served as fire chief of Friedens Fire Company and past president of the Washington Township Firemen’s Relief Association.

He formerly served as treasurer of the Susquehanna Valley Hunting Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Charles W. Schmick (Shawn) of Mooresville, N.C., Cynthia L. Hallman (William) of Slatington, Jeffrey L. Schmick of Slatington, Tammy L. Schmick of Coplay; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
