LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Hollywood comes to Dorney

Bethlehem native and actor/director Daniel Roebuck returned once again to shoot a new film in the Lehigh Valley.

Roebuck and his cast and crew spent Aug. 4 filming “The Hail Mary” at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, South Whitehall.

“The Hail Mary” is a comedy about Sister Kathy, a nun with a sense of humor, who finds an angry loner needing redemption.

She helps him by tricking him into creating a football team for her all-boys Catholic school.

The cast includes Roebuck as Jake Bauer, Marsha Dietlein-Bennett as Sister Kathy, Timothy E. Goodwin as FT (Father Michael Anthony), Bret Anthony as Father Tony, Duane Whitaker as Big John, Joe Estevez as Irish Bob, and Harri James as Sister Margaret Anthony.

During a July 9 news conference, Roebuck said he founded A Channel of Peace, a nonprofit production company that makes faith-based family entertainment.

“The Hail Mary” will be the second film made through A Channel of Peace and Roebuck’s third independent film set in the Lehigh Valley.

Roebuck said at the news conference he expects “The Hail Mary” to be in postproduction in 2022, with a planned 2023-24 release.
