Allentown Fair Queen contest, coronation set for opening night

The 2021 Allentown Fair Queen, who will reign over the upcoming agricultural and entertainment exposition, will be crowned 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1.

The queen contest and coronation, sponsored by Signal 88 of Lehigh Valley, will take place in the RCN Farmerama Theater.

There are four contestants vying to succeed the 2019 titleholder Ayla Blatt of Kutztown.

The winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship sponsored by Lehigh-Northampton Pomona Grange No. 68 and the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market.

The four contestants for queen are:

Emily Lamana, 19, is the daughter of Nicole Roeder and Peter Lamana of Allentown.

A sophomore at Lehigh Carbon Community College majoring in mechanical engineering, she is the editor of Salisbury Literary Magazine.

Emily, who ranked in the Top 10 in the International Twirling Competition, participates in concert band, jazz band, twirling team, soccer, softball, Reading Olympics, stage crew and is a member of the Girl Scouts.

She enjoys roller skating, playing music on her saxophone and clarinet, photography, visual arts, and coaching twirling to inner-city youth.

Imaani Mata, 16, is the daughter of Wanda and Frank Mata of Allentown.

A junior at Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School, Bethlehem, she has been on the distinguished honor roll for the past two years.

She is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Yearbook, Math Honor Society, Mini-THON and National Art Honor Society.

Her passion is volunteering and giving back to her community.

She enjoys basketball, painting and drawing.

Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in human services.

Jessica LaBrie, 17, is the daughter of Susan and Louis LaBrie of Coopersburg.

A senior at Southern Lehigh High School, she has been on the honor roll for the past three years.

She is a member of the 4-H Club, high school marching, jazz and concert band along with being a member of the pit orchestra.

Jessica has played volleyball for the past two years and volunteers for her church’s Vacation Bible School.

She enjoys gardening, fishing, skiing and playing various instruments.

Upon graduation, she plans to major in animal science with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian.

Mackenzie Blatt, 19, is the daughter of Susan and Brian Blatt of Kutztown.

A sophomore at Lehigh Carbon Community College, she is majoring in exercise science and physical therapy.

At LCCC, she was named to the dean’s list, and honor roll and received the Excellence in Leadership Development Award.

Mackenzie’s many accomplishments include MVP Champion Dairy Bowl team captain, National Guernsey Youth Association president, State Junior Guernsey Breeder’s Association president, Daily Ambassador, 4-H, FFA, Dairy Quiz Bowl, Senate of Pennsylvania Project Achievement Award, Girl Scouts, concert/marching band, show choir, jazz choir, LEO Club and Kutztown Project.

She placed fourth in the State of Pennsylvania in girls wrestling.

She enjoys the outdoors, hiking, reading and family.

The Great Allentown Fair runs Sept. 1 through Labor Day, Sept. 6.
