LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

A-Town Throwdown is set for this week

The A-Town Throwdown will finally take place this weekend after being rescheduled earlier this summer.

The event will tip-off on Thursday and run through Sunday in the 52-team event in the boys varsity edition at Cedar Beach.

Whitehall and Northampton will participate in the event with each team playing three games in group play with the winner of each pool advancing to Sunday’s elimination bracket, along with the top four wild card teams from the pools.

Whitehall is paired with Lower Merion, Boys Latin and Red Lion, while Northampton is with Stroudsburg, Muhlenberg and West Catholic.

Whitehall opens the tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. against lower Merion and then plays two games on Saturday, a 1 p.m. contest with Red Lion followed by 3 p.m. against Boys Latin.

Northampton plays two games on Thursday against Stroudsburg at 5 p.m. and Muhlenberg at 9 p.m. They then finish up pool play against West Catholic on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The semifinal round will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday with finals slated for 6 p.m.

The four-day event was originally scheduled for July 15-18 but was pushed back because of a last-minute change to the NCAA live recruiting period.
