Worried

Republican, Democrat, I don’t care!

I just hope for freedom everywhere.

Changes are being made every day;

Our rights are being taken away.

Some of the words I’m hearing today,

I do not understand.

Hashtag, etc.,

must be from a foreign land.

I guess they are words for the new generation,

And that is quite OK;

I only wish that I could know

What they are trying to say.

I know that I am old.

I am 85;

But, believe me when I tell you that

My brain is quite alive.

I remember when our world was free.

I remember how it used to be.

When every neighbor got along,

There were no fights or hate.

I remember helping folks; we’d never hesitate

But now our world is changing

Our constitution is being rearranged.

I thought it took a quorum for that,

But, I guess the rules have changed.

There is not much I can do about it,

I have to tell you, I’m living in fear;

To think what our beautiful world will be like

In the coming years.
