Enrico G. Gava

Enrico G. Gava, 80, of Allentown, died June 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at home.

He and his wife, Barbara E. (Heilman) Gava, were married 56 years in February.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frank and Emma (Dalla Zanna) Gava.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Allentown, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Dayton.

He was a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania.

He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 31-and-a-half years in the electrical department, the B.O.F., and was supervisor of maintenance at the blast furnace.

He belonged to the former Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and was a member of AIST and Eastern States Blast Furnace and Coke Oven Association.

He was past president of the Allentown Italian Club and was secretary and treasurer of the Italian Building Co-Operative Association for 35 years.

A 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 528, he also belonged to the Hayes Lane Hunting Camp, Buffalo Flat.

An avid gardener and golfer, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Andrea E. Hess (Bill) of Downingtown and Sue Heiserman (Rich) of Lansdale; sister Telvia Castagnera of Allentown; son-in-law Carl of Danielsville; grandchildren, Camryn, Devon, and Emma Hess, Cassidy and Derek Heiserman, and C.J. and Giovanna Erie.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Erie, and an infant sister, Sandra.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. July 7 at Sacred Heart Church, 336 N. 4th St., Allentown.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be private.
