The District 11 lacrosse tournament gets underway on Thursday for both the boys and girls tournaments, as Freedom’s programs will take their shot at making a run to the finals.
The Freedom boys open as the fifth seed and travel to fourth-seeded Easton in the opening round of the bracket.
The Pates lost to Easton 10-9 on April 27 in their only encounter this season, as the winner awaits top-seeded Emmaus in next Tuesday’s quarterfinal round
Freedom head coach Tony Fabrizio is looking forward at a shot at redemption.
“We’re eagerly looking forward to it after going into four overtime’s earlier in the year,” Fabrizio said. “We’ve been talking about redemption from that game. The boys are looking good and excited to start a run in districts.”
Freedom’s girls open at home Thursday against Pleasant Valley in a three-six matchup.
Freedom knocked off PV 18-9 in their season opener, but face a Bears squad that has won seven straight games since a 2-4 start.
A win over PV would set up a quarterfinal matchup with Emmaus, who should have little trouble dispatching Hazleton in their opener.
