Catasauqua: Community yard sale set for May 1

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association is sponsoring a community yard sale 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 1 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St.

For those who signed up for a table, setup begins 8 a.m. There is no table fee for nonprofits and service organizations.

HCPA welcomes donated items to be sold at its table.

The rain date is planned for May 2.

Catasauqua High School Band and Chorus is taking orders for the ongoing monthly hoagie and sandwich fundraiser. Orders will be due May 4, with delivery May 11.

Deb Mellish, president of Catasauqua Garden Club, will kick off the gardening season with a discussion about “Those Devilish Weeds” at the May 5 meeting.

The meeting will start 1 p.m. at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

There will be no refreshments, so you may want to bring your own water. Wear masks, and remember to social distance.

You are welcome to bring a horticultural or artistic display, but there will be no judging.

A short planning session will be aimed at finalizing plans for the annual plant sale, set for May 22. The sale will take place in the 300 block of Front Street, near Blockers Coffeehouse. Start thinking about what prized plants you will bring to the sale.
