Mack Truck sale approved

Upper Milford Township Manager Bud Carter informed the board of supervisors of a pending Municibid sale at the April 1 meeting.

At the last meeting, the board approved the sale of the 2003 Mack Dump Truck to the original highest bid from Kevin Dupell in the amount of $19,100. Carter explained that, after numerous attempts, the bidder did not respond.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to reach him,” Carter said. “We tried multiple times. We reached out to Municibid and they said they did have problems before with this buyer.”

As per Municibid’s suggestion, Carter proposed the board approve a sale to the second-highest bidder, Nathan LaFever.

“We reached out to the second-highest bidder today,” Carter said. “He came out and looked at the truck. He would agree to purchase it for his highest bid at $19,000.”

The board carried a motion to approve the sale.

Supervisor Robert Sentner advised Carter to suggest staff begin a discussion of whether or not they intend to replace the vehicle so the township can seek estimates if necessary.

Moving into new business, the board approved the hire of a seasonal park worker for $12 an hour.

In other news, the Route 29 detour due to bridge reconstruction performed by HRI, Inc. will now begin April 12 instead of April 7. The detour will still take 109 days.

The next board meeting is 7 p.m. April 15.
