William Barkley Jr., 96, of Cementon, died April 2, 2021, at Heather Glen Senior Living, Upper Macungie Township. He was the husband of the late Winifred E. (Serfass) Barkley.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late William Sr. and Esther (Lloyd) Barkley.

He was a 1942 graduate of the Whitehall High School.

He was a PFC in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed stateside during the occupation.

He was a cement analyst for the NYC Transit Authority, Northampton, and previously for the former National Portland Cement Company, Hecktown.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, Egypt.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane B. and her husband Dennis Schall of Northampton; a son, William H. and his companion Barbara J. Steiger of Walnutport; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.

He was predeceased by a son, Barry; and a sister, Evelyn Roth.

There will be a graveside service with military honors held 11 a.m. April 8 at Egypt Cemetery, Whitehall. Adhere to social distancing guidelines and the wearing of facial coverings.
