Kenneth A. Baroun

Kenneth “Ken” A. Baroun, 81, of Lower Macungie Township, died March 10, 2021, in his home after a courageous yearlong fight with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Shavlik) Baroun. They were married for 59 years. Born in Manitowoc County, Wis., he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Adeline (Wenzlaff) Baroun.

He was a 1957 graduate of Reedsville High School and graduated from Manitowoc County Teachers College, earning his bachelor of science degree in education from Lakeland College, a master of science degree in administrative/supervision from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and superintendents certification from Marquette University. He was an educator and school administrator.

He and his family moved to Allentown in 2000 and spent retirement with family and traveling. He spent one year as principal of The Lutheran Academy, Northampton.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Macungie and former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, Wis.

He was a former Lions Club member, served as a Red Cross board member, served on church councils and was a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed woodworking and reading.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Scott K. and his wife, Jennifer S., of Allentown; grandchildren, Ben S. and Grace A., of Allentown; a brother Marvin and his wife, Sue, of New Auburn, Wis.; brothers/sisters-in-law Dick (Cathy) Shavlik, of Whitelaw, Wis., Bob (Deb) Shavlik, of Green Bay, Wis., Jack (Chris) Shavlik, of Oconto, Wis., Jean (Steve) Zirbel, of Reedsville, Wis. and Diane (Larry) Schleis, of Green Bay, Wis.; nieces; nephews; friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Bernice Denor and Germaine Luedtke and in-laws.

A memorial will be established in his memory or memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. May 29 in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Brookside Road, Macungie. There will be a calling hour in the church 10 a.m. until service time.
