Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My family consists of my mom, Molly, my dad, Mike and my Lil’ bro, Lucas. Our house now also acts as a zoo after convincing our parents to get two kittens. For context, we were planning on only getting one. That brings us to our cats: Charlotte, Bean and Puff. I also have an older adult dog, Aggie and a six-month-old Pug, Junior.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is English because I find it interesting how people can have vastly different interpretations of the same text. English class allows us to discuss these different interpretations.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. In preschool, I received the “Group Leader” award for leading my team to finish our Ancient Egypt project. More recently, I won my Ancient & Classical Empires class competition for the best end-of-year project. My modern adaptation of the Julius Caesar assassination did not go unnoticed by my teacher. In swimming, I was a part of the district champion relay team in 2018 and 2019. Last year, I was a district medalist in two events and I was named MVP of the girls team. I am also a member of National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am a member of the debate team, Model UN and the swim team. Debate and Model UN have had to adapt by moving to Zoom. In regard to swimming, I am pretty sure we have had more time off than actual practice time making staying in swim shape difficult.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My next goal after high school? Maybe I’ll win The Pulitzer Prize for journalism. I could also always work my way up to head writer and Weekend Update host at SNL. Perhaps I will write the next great American novel. At the end of the day, my goal is to be doing something I love. Although, I would like to live somewhere that gets snow on Christmas.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. It has been extremely challenging staying focused during online learning. Despite class only being 45 minutes, I often find myself zoning out repeatedly. I am hoping being in school for part of the week will help me get back on track.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as a laid-back person who was not afraid to speak her mind.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my best friend, Madison Ekdahl. Easily the funniest person I have ever met, she reminds me that laughter is the best medicine. I am forever grateful that I have someone in my life that can brighten my mood simply by stepping into my line of sight.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. The advice I would give to my peers is to wake up each morning with zero expectations for the day. By doing this, you give yourself the possibility of making each day fantastic.
