Administration notifies of additional COVID cases in district

Whitehall-Coplay School District continues to notify families of positive COVID-19 cases in the district.

A Jan. 27 notification reported five new student cases.

Two of the cases are Whitehall High School students. One was last in school Jan. 12, and the other is part of the learn-at-home program. One case is a Whitehall-Coplay Middle School student who was last in school Jan. 8, one is a Steckel Elementary School student who was last in school Jan. 22 and one is a Gockley Elementary School student who was last in school Jan. 12.

A notification sent Jan. 28 reported six additional student cases. Two of the cases are WCMS students who were both last in school Jan. 25. Two of the cases are Zephyr Elementary School students. One student was last in school Jan. 19 and the other Jan. 25. One case is a WHS student who was last in the school building Jan. 12. The other is a Steckel Elementary student who was last in school Jan. 19.

The notifications inform families the district will work with Pennsylvania Department of Health to monitor the cases.

“Based on this information, the district will need to monitor the situation very closely, as it may impact our instructional delivery in the future,” the notifications state.

Families are encouraged to be diligent about monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and to use the WCSD student screening card, available on the website at whitehallcoplay.org.
