Businesses reopen, serve customers

By LOU WHEELAND

Special to The Press

With the new guidelines from the commonwealth, Pennsylvania business were allowed to reopen Jan. 4 to serve up to 50 percent of building capacity. The reopening, a return to the rules in place on Dec. 11, 2020, was a blessing to local restaurants, gyms and organizations which rely on in-person business to stay in the black.

Restaurants which were restricted to take out or delivery could see a return of customers eating inside.

Gyms that were closed completely could now allow members and guests to hit the racks or cardio equipment once again.

Some locally owned businesses include Chris’ Diner, 5635 W. Tilghman St., and The Fitness Plaza, 1124 Glenlivet Drive, both in Upper Macungie Township; the Trivet Restaurant, 4549 W. Tilghman St., and the Parkland Restaurant, 2702 Walbert Ave., both in South Whitehall Township.
