Magliochetti, Lynn named tennis co-MVPs

Friends and opponents, Bethlehem Catholic’s number one singles player Cara Magliochetti and Liberty’s number one singles player Veronica Lynn, were named East Penn Conference Northampton County Division Girls’ Tennis Co-MVP’s last week.

During the regular season, Magliochetti defeated Lynn, 7-6, 7-6, in a match at Liberty, and Lynn defeated Magliochetti, 7-6, 7-6, in a match at Becahi.

“That’s always how it is when we play,” said Lynn earlier this season.

Both players competed in the District XI Singles Tennis Tournament and in the District XI Doubles Tennis Tournament where Magliochetti and Shannon Stewart were gold medalists in Class 2A, and Lynn and Margeaux Donchez were bronze medalists in Class 3A.

Magliochetti and Stewart as well as Lynn and Donchez were named to EPC Northampton County Division First Team Doubles. Donchez was the number three singles player for the Hurricanes.

Stewart, the number two singles player for the Hawks, was also named to First Team Singles.

Liberty’s Angie Ronca, the number two singles player for the Hurricanes, and Freedom’s Isabella Szmodis, the number one singles player for the Patriots, were named to Second Team Singles.

Liberty’s number two doubles players Sruti Tekumalla and Sofia Hortsmann, and Becahi’s number two doubles players Alexa Schoenfield and Maddie Lennert were named to Second Team Doubles.
