A 23-year-old Allentown man was seriously injured Nov. 27 when he fell from an open bed of a truck that was traveling eastbound on Route 329 in Allen Township.

According to state police, Bashar Kassis was riding in the back of a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado, securing a dresser, sofa and mattress with his body weight. The items shifted near the intersection with Savage Road, causing Kassis to fall onto the roadway and hit his head.

He was transported by Northampton Regional EMS to St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.

The truck was driven by Bryan K. Beale, 46, of Northampton, police said. He was not injured, according to the report.
