10th Tucker Toy Run adapts to COVID

The 10th annual Tucker’s Toy Run was held Nov. 7, with COVID restrictions limiting motorcycling participants to a ride past the St. Luke’s University Health Network hospital in Fountain Hill. According to Lehigh Valley Community Benefit organizer Rick Nauman, thousands of toys that are normally delivered in person, when the bikers arrive and gather in front of the hospital, were transported earlier in the day by truck.

The annual event saw an estimated 900 bikers leave from Triboro Sportsmen Club in Northampton, travel to Fountain Hill, and return to the club after, where refreshments were served and a raffle drawing was held that raises the funding to support this and other charitable causes.

Bath resident John Herman was this year’s big raffle winner, taking home a 2020 Harley-Davidson.

St. Luke’s pediatric staff lined Ostrum Street, cheering on the bikers as they rode past. Toys collected are provided to the hospital network and are distributed to pediatric patients throughout the year.

The toy drive honors the late Tucker Stuart, who died in a motorcycle crash in 2011.
