Emmaus High School names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. Jeff, Trish, Jacob and Bethany.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. I love AP Biology because we’re discussing topics that are relevant in today’s world, like how COVID-19 infects humans at the cellular level.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I received recognition for excellence in German and biology in my past years and was the 2019 Player’s Player for girls soccer.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am the captain of the girls varsity soccer team and we were fortunate enough to play a full season this fall. COVID-19 has definitely affected us in terms of the number of teams we were allowed to play, as well as our post season, as the team had to quarantine due to a case after our final in-season game. I also run on the track and field team and our season was canceled last spring. This year I’m looking forward to both winter and spring track, even though it will look much different from other years.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. In general I’ve always had a difficult time dealing with change. This past year has been especially difficult for that reason, because everything that I imagined my junior and senior year to be has been turned upside down.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I hope to attend a college and study biology.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I really admire my dad, because he is constantly challenging himself to learn new things and take on new hobbies.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as a strong leader and a caring friend.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. In a time where our expectations are constantly crushed, be adaptive and understanding.
